Summary

When working with Team Center data for component assemblies in Motion simulations, error messages such as "Part is not a valid version of component part" often appear. These are typical scenarios of data mismanagement. The issue arises during motion simulations when working with sub-assemblies for parent and sub-mechanisms, especially when multiple versions of sub-assemblies exist within a single assembly. Details

Issue:

When working with Team Center data for component assemblies in Motion simulations, error messages such as "Part is not a valid version of component part" often appear.

Underlying Reason:

These are typical scenarios of data mismanagement. The issue arises during motion simulations when working with sub-assemblies for parent and sub-mechanisms, especially when multiple versions of sub-assemblies exist within a single assembly.
If the components in sub-assemblies are updated or saved with newer version of Simcenter 3D and the components in the parent sub-assembly mechanism is not updated for newer version, then this error will occur.

Proposed solution:

  • Either restore the version of sub-mechanism to the version of parent file by deleting the new version reference sub-assembly data.
  • Otherwise update the version of parent mechanism by saving the old version data in new version of referencing the latest version sub-assemblies of CAD components.
