Simcenter Madymo Simcenter Madymo - How to insert entities selected from the graphical interface in XMADgic

Where a list of surfaces, nodes, parts or elements are expected (attribute _LIST_(EXCL) under GROUP_* for instance), such entities can be inserted from the graphical interface in XMADgic into the input deck with the right mouse button option "Insert" (this option only becomes available after entities are selected). 

To do so, add the desired element and define the desired attributes i.e. NODE(/ELEMENT/PART/SURFACE)_LIST(_EXCL).

Important remark: if a GROUP_FE is defined outside the FE_MODEL resp. a GROUP_MB outside the SYSTEM_MODEL where the entities are located, the attribute FE_MODEL resp. SYSTEM will be required.

Open the graphical interface and select the type of entities to be selected in the tool bar (Element Selection for elements, Node Selection for nodes and Part Section for parts and surfaces). The example below shows with Node Selection option.

Make your selection:

• left mouse button for single selection
• CTRL + left mouse button for multiple selection
• SHIFT + left mouse button for box selection (also includes all layers located behind the visible entity)

Go back to the attribute in the XML tree, click the right mouse button and select Insert selected NODE(PART/ELEMENT/SURFACE)s.

The selected nodes are then added to the list.

Remark: selected entities (nodes/elements/parts) that are not part of the related FE_MODEL are not inserted in the LIST.

To define a list of nodes or elements consisting of most but not all nodes or elements of one or more parts, the user can either:

• Select Part Selection and click the desired part(s)
• Select Node or Element Selection and deselect the undesired entities using CTRL + left mouse button
• Go back to the LIST attribute and click the right mouse button and select Insert selected NODE(/ELEMENT)s.

or make use of the *_LIST_EXCL attribute by adding the undesired elements to the exclusion list.

It is also possible for the user to modify an existing list. To do so, proceed as it follows:

• Select the list attribute in the XML tree
• Use CTRL + left mouse button to add the desired entities
• Go back to the LIST attribute and click the right mouse button and select Insert selected NODE(PART/ELEMENT/SURFACE)s.
