Details
In order to overcome the error message described, please follow the steps below:
Start Flotherm XT.
Select Tools > Add-Ins
Uncheck both XT / EDA for startup / Active
Select "File" > "Open", load in step file.
Once loaded, save as an assembly file.
Tools > Add-Ins, check EDA / XT boxes.
Tree is now showing properly.
Select Thermal Analysis > XT Project Tools > New Project.
Assembly Choice -- select "The active assembly"
Once finished the project is now in XT.
After this, also Export XTXML and re-import should work fine.
This is a known defect and will be fixed in the next Flotherm XT release
