Summary

In accordance with incoming wave direction, the trimmed cell mesh should be aligned as same as direction.

Details

Generally, in case of simulation about free surface and with primary flow direction, the trimmed cell mesh could be recommended as below figure.

The results of the added resistance analysis by applying this way could do refer the paper which is “A numerical study of added resistance performance and hydrodynamics of KCS hull in oblique regular waves and estimation of resistance in short-crested irregular waves through spectral method” in IJNAOE ( link is https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ijnaoe.2023.100563 ).
This article’s object is to inform of you the process of mesh alignment.

1. Make new coordinate at global coordinate (0,0,0) and Rotate as incoming wave angle

For rotating,

Below figure is example about incoming wave angle.

2. Apply rotated coordinate to “Trimmed Cell Mesher”

The result is as follows;
