Summary

It is not apparent how to use a point for applying a boundary condition (i.e., load or constraint). It appears that no points are accessible to select.

Details

The selection filter is set to mesh point and is inalterable.  In order to generate a mesh point, access to the FEM is required.  This must be accomplished by using either the Design Simulation or Pre/Post application.  Without access to these applications, a point boundary condition cannot be defined.  Simulation specific Process Studio Wizards can only be launched from a PRT or SIM.  Given a PRT, a FEM and SIM must be created using the aforementioned applications.  Within the FEM, create the desired mesh points.  These mesh points are accessible in the SIM.  With the SIM as Displayed & Work, open the Stress Wizard.  The mesh points will be accessible to select as points defining boundary conditions.

Using Design Simulation
  • Open the PRT
  • In the Application tab, in the Simulation group, select the Design Simulation button (most probably found using the More button)
  • Select OK to create New FEM and SIM
  • Select Close in this case because Stress Wizard will handle the solution
  • Set FEM as Work part
  • In the Home tab, in the Utilities group, select the Mesh Point button
  • In the Mesh Point Constructor dialog, create desired mesh points
  • Set SIM as Work part
  • Open the Stress Wizard application
  • The mesh points created will be accessible
Using Pre/Post
  • Open the PRT
  • In the Application tab, in the Simulation group, select the Pre/Post button
  • In the Home tab, in the Content Group, select New FEM and SIM button
  • Select OK to create New FEM and SIM
  • Set FEM as Work part
  • In the Home tab, in the Utilities group, select the Mesh Point button
  • In the Mesh Point Constructor dialog, create desired mesh points
  • Set SIM as Work part
  • Open the Stress Wizard application
  • The mesh points created will be accessible
