How to export the function plot results generated in Simcenter 3D to Matlab format?

Details

This article explains how users can export their function plot results from Simcenter 3D to Matlab format. There is no direct approach to do this in Simcenter 3D but the trick is to first export the function plots to AFU format and then export them to Matlab format. This process is described below with an example function plot and users can follow the steps below to do the same as needed.

  • Post-process the results and display the function plot of the result you would like to export. Then select the Export option from the Function Plot group and in the popup select *.afu for file type and specify the name and path of the file to be exported as shown in the screenshot below.

  • Go to the XY Function Navigator and the *.afu files saved in the previous step will be listed under the AFU Files - XY Tabular Functions. Select the file you would like to export to Matlab format, right click on it and then select the Export option as shown below.

  • In the popup window, select *.mat format for the file type and specify the name and path of the file to be exported as shown in the screenshot below. This should export the function plot to Matlab format.
