Summary

In case SFM stopped connecting to Yamaha machines and will not start, there are few steps you can do.


Details

The connection from the driver ( SFM) to the machine and from the machine to the driver is done using 3 ports and the IP address of the 2 clients..

On the driver side-the port setting in the configuration is called 'LanPorts' and the machine IP address setting is called 'lineComputerIP'

On the machine side :
 
  1. Open the Yamaha machine interface.
  2. On the left menu bar click the Machine button.
  3. In the VmSpec window, from the left menu bar, choose Settings > Machine Information > Communication Setting.
  4. On the Network pane, do the following:
    1. Select Server IP Address, and then type in the IP address of the driver.
    2. Verify that the ports numbers are correct.
  5. Click the Save button on the upper toolbar.

Ports number should match on both ends.

In case all configuration is correct and you still cannot established connection to the machine , check if the ports are open by using Telnet.
 
  • Type windows features in to the search bar. 
  • Click Turn Windows features on or off.
  • Check the box next to Telnet Client and click OK.
  • Click Close when the app is finished installing.

Type On the Search bar the key words 'Telnet' and open the application.

Type open (machine IP address) (port number). For example, if you wanted to see if port 25 is open on your machine, and your machine IP address is 10.0.0.1, you would type open 10.0.0.1 25.
