Femap

Summary

Applying an enforced displacement load in Femap. Enforced displacement can be defined two different ways. Defined as a load (SPCD) or as a constraint (SPC).

Details

Enforced displacement can be defined two different ways.  Defined as a load (SPCD) or as a constraint (SPC).

Loads Method

Create a new load Set

Define Displacement load

If you attempt to solve the solution, it will solve with no enforced load.
Femap will list this error to the message window
Node 12, DOF 1 is not constrained but has Enforced Displacement applied.
Node 13, DOF 1 is not constrained but has Enforced Displacement applied.

Nastran F06 file

The DOF that has enforced displacement must also have a constraint in that DOF applied.
Constrain the displacement node. This constraint must be in the active constraint set.

This will write a SPCD to the NASTRAN input file (Image below from Nastran Quick Reference Guide QRG)

Constraints Method

Create a constraint on node to be enforced.

Select NonZero Constraint

Define an enforced displacement value

This will write a SPC to the NASTRAN input file (Image below from Nastran Quick Reference Guide QRG)
