## Summary

In this example the process of performing a topology optimization for a simple bridge structure will be illustrated. The objective is to minimize the mass of the bridge while keeping the deflection less than 1mm. This is a 7 parts tutorial that includes the following: 1. Geometry creation - simple bridge shape 2. Mesh the bridge geometry 3. Apply material properties 4. Apply Loads and constraints 5. Setup and Run the analysis 6. Postprocessing results 7. Animate the Topology optimization iterations

Part 2: Mesh the bridge geometry

Step 6: Create Mesh Mating Condition

•Select the Mesh Mating     tool in the Connections group of the Home tab tool ribbon
•Select all the faces from both solid bodies
•Click OK

Step 7: Create Mesh Controls in Top Corners

•Select the Mesh Control     tool in the Mesh group of the Home tab tool ribbon
•Set the Type to Number on Edge
•Select the edges of the corners cube as indicated
•Set Number of Elements to 1
•Click OK
Step 8: Create the Mesh

•Select the 3D Swept Mesh     tool in the Mesh group of the Home tab tool ribbon
•Set the Type to Multi Body-Infer Target
•Ensure that the Element Type is set to CHEX8
•Set Source Element Size to 100mm
•Select a face from each of the two bridge volume solids
•Click OK
