Simcenter 3D Solutions Graphics very slow while working with large models

Summary

It is very hard to do regular operations like rotation, zoom etc. in the pre-processing stages of large models in Simcenter 3D. The graphics seem to be very slow and it takes unusually longer to prepare models. Are there any settings to improve this behavior?


Details

Users can do a few things to improve pre-processing and handling of the models especially when working with large models in Simcenter 3D. Such large models typically require a lot of hardware resources including memory etc. So, one option is to check for the possibility of improving the hardware resources either by increasing them on the existing machine or by using a machine with better hardware. If this is not possible, users can adjust the visualization and mesh display settings within the software to improve the operation response to some degree. To do so, 
 
  • Go to visualization settings (File -> Preferences -> Visualization...) and adjust the moving and still frames as shown in the screenshots below

  • Go to Mesh display settings (Home tab -> Utilities group -> More -> Mesh Display Preferences) and turn off both the 3D and 2D element edges, if needed, as shown in the screenshots below
