Summary

Several enhancements are now available in Simcenter 3D Materials Engineering

Details

Injection molding workflow

A new workflow is available that allows you to specify thermoplastic and fiber properties, as well as fiber orientation data. The software automatically creates microstructural FE models and assigns them to different regions of the part for streamlined and highly efficient multiscale simulation. Using this workflow, you can more accurately predict material properties and part performance.

Simcenter 3D integration

The following enhancements are now available in Simcenter 3D Materials Engineering, which allow for improved integration with Simcenter 3D Pre/Post:

  • Ability to use Multimech Microstructure material properties in Simcenter 3D Pre/Post

  • Post-processing of microstructure cracks in Simcenter 3D Pre/Post

  • New material database of commonly used composite materials

  • Integration with Simcenter Samcef solver environment for multiscale simulations

  • Integration with Abaqus solver environment

For more information on using Multimech Microstructure material properties in Simcenter 3D Pre/Post, see Multimech Microstructure material property workflow.

Damage model enhancements

The following enhancements are available for damage models:

  • Time-step independence, which allows for more accurate and repeatable virtual tests

  • Temperature-dependent thermo-elastic properties, which you can define using a tabular format

For more information about these enhancements, see Simcenter 3D Materials Engineering enhancements.
