Summary

An issue with license request for simulation can occur when you try to run FMI generated with a Simcenter version lower than 17 included if you are using FlexNet Publisher

Details

Since version 2020.1, it is possible to use Simcenter Amesim with the FlexNet Publisher license server. As it is mentioned in the documentation, "FlexNet Publisher is not compatible with older Simcenter Amesim releases."

To execute a FMI generated by Simcenter Amesim, you need Simcenter Amesim licenses (like runtime licenses) and a minimal installation of Amesim (check FAQ I08 for more detail). To support these licenses, you might need to set up a license server, even if you are not using Simcenter Amesim platform.

However, as "FlexNet Publisher is not compatible with older Simcenter Amesim releases", you won't be able to execute FMI generated in older Simcenter Amesim versions than 2020.1. This would led to error message like "No license to serve xxx" as the FMI generated in the older version cannot reach the FlexNet Publisher license server.

To solve this case, you have two options :

  • Generate the FMI with 2020.1 version or higher (no specific need in term of license server during the generation, the only thing which matters is to use a version compatible with both license manager)
  • Move to RLM server which support older Simcenter Amesim versions than 2020.1
