Simcenter Testing Solutions Simcenter Testlab: Correct Tacho Setting in the Case of Missing Pulses

Simcenter Testlab

This article will illustrate the correct 'tacho settings for missing pulses' in Simcenter Testlab.

Question:    What are the correct tacho settings for the two gear cases shown below?  You may assume that a hall-effect sensor produces a pulse for every passing of a gear tooth.  Note that in Case B, the 14th tooth is missing!

Case A:  The correct „Pulses per rev“ setting is 14.

Case B:  The correct “Pulses per rev” setting is also 14!  Additonally, a missing pulse correction with 1 missing pulse is required.
