Summery
The window is the operating system, which is widely used in the industry due to its simplicity. Installation of AMESim is quite simple and it is working in the same way as it works on the Linux machine. This article will help you to understand “How to configure the RLM license server to access the AMESim on the Window machine? Please check the video for more details?
Pre-requisites
- RLM License server set up – You can download the AMESim from our support portal. There are 2 DVDs. License server setup files can be located in DVD 1.
- Valid license file with mac id, which is exactly similar to the mac id of your machine. Please note that, if the mac id is blank, or if you are adding the mac id by hand, then, you won’t be able to access the license. Please get the correct license file with mac id from Siemens.
Steps to install –
Generate rlmdiag.txt file on server machine-
Generate RLMLOG.txt file on server machine-

- You can locate the RLM license server set up at below two locations.
- In DVD 1
- In the AMESim installation folder.
- Double click on “RLMLicenseServer.msi” and follow the instruction given on each interactive step. For more detail, please watch the above video.
- If RLM installation fails, then try to install it with “RLMLicenseServer.exe”.
- If, it fails by both methods then contact Siemens support.
- Go to window services & Ensure that the “RLM” service is running.
- Rename the license file to “LMS.lic” (It is not really required, but this will help to simplify the name of the license file). Copy this file at any location, where you want to be.
- Create Environmental variable LMS_LICENSE=Path of license file/LMS.lic
- The login name is “admin” and there is no password. We suggest to you change the password after the first login to avoid security issues. Click on status. It will show the status of the server if, it is running.
- Now, in the web browser, type link http://localhost:5054/home.asp It should open the below page.
We can configure the Simcenter AMESim license under below three scenarios
Configuration of Simcenter AMESim License
.If, you are still not able to access the license by the above method, then, generate the diagnosis report and send it to our support engineer by raising the support case at this link . Please follow the below process to generate a diagnostic report.Configuration of Simcenter AMESim License
- Scenario 1 – Set below environmental variable.
- On server machine – “LMS_LICENSE=5053@localhost” Or LMS_LICENSE=Path of license file\LMS.lic
- Scenario 2 – Set below environmental variable.
- On server machine – “LMS_LICENSE=5053@localhost” Or LMS_LICENSE=Path of license file\LMS.lic
- On client machine – “LMS_LICENSE=5053@servername” where server name is the hostname of your license server machine.
- Scenario 3 – Set below environmental variable.
- On server machine – “LMS_LICENSE=5053@localhost” Or LMS_LICENSE=Path of license file\LMS.lic
- On client machine – “LMS_LICENSE=5053@servername” where server name is the hostname of your license server machine.
Generate rlmdiag.txt file on server machine-
- open link http://localhost:5054/home.asp it will open the server page.
- On the left side, click on the diagnostic tab
- It will generate the rlmdiag.txt file at the path given at the output location.
- Send the “rlmdiag.txt” file to me.
Generate RLMLOG.txt file on server machine-
- Click on the Status tab at the left side. It will open the main server page. At the right side, you will see the path for the debug file log. Here, you can see the “RLMLOG.txt” file.
- Send the RLMLOG.txt and rlmdiag.txt to Siemens support.
- Please also click on System Info Tab and send me the snap of the right side window.
