Summary

This article provides you an attempt but does not guarantee recovery of a corrupted Amesim file

Details

The following method gives you an opportunity to recover your corrupted Amesim model. This method does not guarantee recovery of the corrupted file.
  1. Make sure you have back up of all the original files before doing this!
  2. Make sure the Amesim model in not open in Simcenter Amesim and you only see the *.ame file at the location you saved it.
  3. Right click on the *.ame file and select “explode”
  4. Open the *_.cir file in the notepad ++ or text editor.
  5. It is possible that the error message you get is caused by unsupported characters that cause data to keep being added to the .cir file. Usually you have to go looking by hand in the file to see where you have big blocks of data which seem suspicious. From experience, the corruption occurs around the ° symbol. So if you ctrl+f in the file for that symbol, you will be taken to a place where you have huge blocks of gibberish text, as below. You can remove them.

      6. Make sure to remove the ° symbol and other suspicious characters 2.png
      7. Once you're done save the .cir and then open the Amesim model in Amesim. It will ask you if you want to use “usaved files”. Click on “Yes”.
