The Simcenter SCADAS Mobile and SCADAS Recorder (formerly called LMS SCADAS) are part of a family of modular data acquisition devices used for capturing dynamic signals at a rate up to 204.8 kHz sampling rate per data channel.

The systems can read a variety of transducers, including strain gauges, accelerometers, microphones, thermocouples, speed encoders, GPS, digital CAN-bus, and more…

The Simcenter SCADAS Mobile and Recorder are modular, and consist of a combination of:

  • Frame: Housing unit which contains all cards, controllers, and power supply. Comes in variety of sizes.
  • Connector Module: Option used to combine or link multiple SCADAS frames together.
  • Power Supply: Contains battery for autonomous operation, also accepts external AC or DC power.
  • Mobile OR Recorder Controller Card:
    • The controller card is referred to as a XSI or Syscon card. It is included with all SCADAS frames with the exception of slave frames.
    • Mobile: Ethernet interface for linking to control PC with Test.Lab software, two source outputs, two tachometer/encoder inputs.
    • Recorder: Same as Mobile with addition of Compact Flash for un-attended data acquisition, WiFi or Bluetooth for remote control, GPS/IRIG-B, and CAN-bus inputs.
  • Data Acquisition cards: Typically 8 or 24 input channels per card; see variety of card options in table below.

SCADAS is an acronym for Signal Conditioning and Data Acquisition System.

2. Frames:

Each SCADAS Mobile or SCADAS Recorder can be configured to customer-specific testing preferences:

  • SCADAS frames include either a SCADAS Mobile or SCADAS Recorder controller card, unless ordered as a slave frame. Any frame size can be ordered either as a Mobile or as a Recorder.
  • Empty slots are allowed. Expansion slots do not need to immediately be filled with a data acquisition card, since they can be installed later. Additions will be automatically recognized with no additional software configuration, etc.
  • Frames can be daisy-chained or linked through main-secondary option (models 02-09 only).
  • For Vibration Control applications, the SCADAS can be ordered with a modified source. The modified source has shutdown capability to avoid unintended test article and shaker system damage.

Below is a list of cards available for the SCADAS frames. Some key points:

SCADAS_Card.png
  • Cards need to be placed in either an existing SCADAS frame or new SCADAS frame to function.
  • Cards typically consist of either 8 or 24 input channels.
  • Base codes in table below (e.g., VB8). Cards when ordered will have extensions, for example "E" for Enhanced, or "-II" or "-III" for 2nd or 3rd generation (e.g., VB8-II).
  • Cards often have cable adaptors included. For example, LEMO to BNC adaptors, etc. Check with your sales representative to understand which cables are included when purchasing a specific card.
  • Some cards can have options for connector type, for example D-Shell connector instead of individual inputs.
