If you want to measure in
recorder mode (standalone mode), without a tablet, you need to create a template file (.xrdf) and make sure this template file is placed on the
microSD card of the SCADAS-XS.In Simcenter Testlab Classic you can save the recording template either to a local file and transfer it later (see below) or write it directly to the microSD card that you have previously inserted in the PC:
In Simcenter Testlab Neo you can save the recording template from the Acquisition Setup module. There is a dedicated button on the bottom left which is "Recorder". Clicking Recorder you open the GUI for template name definition and saving folder.
In Simcenter Testxpress , in addition to the two possibilities above, you can write directly to the microSD card (the ‘files’ folder) of the SCADAS-XS using the ‘Remote Drive’ option of the ‘Save Template’.
Once you have saved your template (.xrdf file) to a local folder, you still need to copy this file to the microSD card of the SCADAS XS.
There are different options:
- If your SCADAS XS was connected to the PC with Testlab or Testxpress at the moment you created the template, the easiest is that you launch the ‘Simcenter SCADAS XS Browser’ on the PC (you can do that while Testlab or Testxpress is still connected). The SCADAS XS Browser will open an Explorer window showing two folders.
Use the Windows File explorer to copy the .xrdf template you just created and
paste it to the “files” folder. The ‘files’ folder is the content of the ‘microSD’ card in the SCADAS XS, the ‘templates’ folder is the content of the flash memory of the XS.
Note: the “Simcenter SCADAS XS Browser” is available from Test.Lab 15A on in the ‘Tools’ folder of the Test.Lab program folder. From TestLab 2019 on it can be found on “All Programs ->Simcenter Hardware Diagnostics".
For more details and options on how to access SCADAS XS files directly from your PC, see the knowledge article "
How to access the files and folders of the Simcenter SCADAS-XS directly from your PC (without moving the microSD card)? "
- You can just place the .xrdf file to the microSD card via Windows Explorer: First remove the micro SD card from the SCADAS XS. Insert this card in the SD card adapter and connect this to the PC.
When booting the SCADAS XS, this .xrdf file will then automatically be used for the setup of your measurement.
Note: As you will not have the possibility to select the template without the tablet be sure that you place
only 1 .xrdf file on the microSD card or in the “files” folder.
If multiple .xrdf files on the card, only one will be used (the priority is first numbers then letters in alphabetical order).
Press on the “REC” button on the SCADAS XS to start the measurement.
